Houston’s first South Asian female DJ!

Life never ceases to surprise me. I see my dream coming true & my passion for music reaching new heights!

It’s quite overwhelming to be responsible for creating groundbreaking news, being the first South Asian female to come up in the entertainment industry in this city.

The love, support & faith in me of my family & genuine friends have made this possible. Though not enough words for me to express my gratitude but I thank you all for everything. Your encouragement has given me the motivation to persue my ambition. Keep the faith!

Happiness,a state of mind

I just spent 2 hrs @ Barnes & Nobles reading  Joel Olsteen & felt inspired to share a few thoughts with everyone. Lets keep this chain of thought going & who knows when you will make a difference in someone’s life without even knowing it! I will quote……

“Happiness is not in our circumstances, make it a habit of living”!

It made me realize that its exactly what I’ve done in life……I’ve made a habit of always being happy despite the circumstances which would normally drag me down. And I feel that its facing everything that comes your way with a smile that helps one get through! Some of you may think that its easy for Samia to say that but…..BUT ITS NOT! It’s never easy for anyone! You can choose to cry about your perpetual dilemmas & enjoy the sympathy of others or you can say NO! I will not allow that. God gave me one life to live,HE has given me the ability to live it the way I want so I’m going to make the right choice & live every moment of it…….HAPPY. I may have made some wrong choices in the past but I will not live in regrets! With HIM always there, watching over me I will continue making a difference everyday in mine & someone else’s life.Something else I read which I strongly believe in & I quote again that

“God does not look @ what you did wrong ,HE looks @ what you did right!

Isn’t that amazing? I believe my life is a miracle,I’m alive & blessed with angels around me,people looking for an opportunity to help me,support me.HE has blessed me with a beautiful intelligent daughter ,I must’ve done something right in life to deserve that! There will always be situations & conflicts in  life which will make us frustrated, depressed, upset but dealing with them with a positive attitude & happy mind, by not I quote “letting the storm around us get into us” will help in getting through. Make peace within yourself, happiness should be a state of your mind & you should not be searching for it in people or things.

So why am I quoting something from a book that you can go read yourself? What are the chances of everyone logging on to my site reading Olsteen ,a Christian pastor’s book? I’m posting this blog because I felt inspired,I happened to get my food for thought today by reading a book by someone who has different religious belief & who unknowingly made a difference in my life………..maybe I can too!

Take a stand women!

The most horrible crime a man commits is proving to be a macho hero by hurting his wife mentally, physically, emotionally & sexually! How dare you! And it pains me more when women allow that to happen! Why? There’s absolutely no justification for this act. It traumatises not only the woman for life but the kids involved as well! It emotionally draines the women, gives her low self esteem & lose all sexual interest!

Why? How would you feel if the man marrying your daughter or sister hurts her in this way? How would you feel if your father raised his hand on your mother? This is not a social issue…this is a man’s ego issue! It’s his insecurity & I urge all the women to stand up for their rights & speak up! Pls learn to fight for yourself! Be your own advocate! Unfortunately the South Asian families do not provide ample support & back off in fear of fake family honor! My dear women…..you must take a stand for yourself,be strong & help yourself! These are not just words…I speak from a close call!

loss of teenage lives !

25 South Asian teenagers died last year because of either speeding or drunk driving.RDB concert was arranged recently to bring awareness but 2 hrs after the show, guys left the venue speeding while drunk, changing lanes like a mad person!! what will it take to realize the value of life? you could be dead ,in a coma or end up disabled for the rest of your life & then what? its over with…your life ,your career, the fun…everything! But here’s the sad part…..life goes on for everyone else in this world, your family, friends, relationship. They will continue partying after mourning your loss for a few days…which is really only & only your loss! Its YOU whos not there to party anymore while everyone else has moved on in life & That my friends is the ugly truth! So pls be selfish & think about yourself the next time you intend to drink & drive!Think about how it can end your life, how it can change your life, who cares if others think you are not cool just because you value life…tell them to take a chance, why play with your future?

To all the desi parents who’ve turned a blind eye that their kids don’t drink & drive, wake up pls! Stop acting dumb & turning a blind  to your child’s problems,be their friend & talk to them about the dangers!By avoiding the issue you cannot ignore the problem, your child does drink & will God forbid get hurt one day!So stop pretending like nothing’s wrong & create awareness @ home with healthy dinner time discussions.

The Reason I Started My Blog Site

Im extremely disturbed, disgusted & angry to hear that more then 200 girls lost thier lives in the past 5 yrs @ the hands of  thier father  because she was “too westernized”!! A beautiful 16 yr old girl was strangled because she refused to wear hijab! A 20 yr old was strangled because she would use hairspray! Two 17 yr old sisters shot dead in fathers taxi because they had boyfriends! A 25 yr old was murdered because she refused to stay in an arranged marriage & opted for divorce! A man poured gas on  his sleeping  family of a wife & 3 daughters and burned them alive because one of the girls wanted to become a fashion designer! Another woman was stabbed 18 times with 4 different knives because she refused to submit to an arranged marriage . There are 119 cases in Britain alone of honor killings! All in the name of Islam! All Pakistani & Arab muslims MCP! Can we the educated not protest? Are we so engrossed in our lives that we cant even speak up about it? Is this what Islam preaches? Is this whats in the Quran ? They want to prove that they’re good muslims? Why not do something about our brothers suffering in humiliation @ Guantanamo Bay? Instead of killing women & proving thier manhood! COWARDS! LOSERS! Lets stop this together pls.Go on line & google muslim fathers killing daughters & you will see what Im talking about! Pls SPEAK UP!
